The SBCA Governor’s Cup of Florida

The dinner and awards program will be attended by football coaches and athletes from each of the seven division I universities in Florida (Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida State, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of South Florida). The Governor or his representative will then present a traveling trophy to the one university who has the most successful football season. It is our goal to raise over $100,000 which will be divided evenly by the seven athletic departments. The winner of the trophy will be determined by a numerical score consisting of three important values added together:

• Final Season Win/Loss Percentage X 100
  
• Team Grade Point Average X 100
  
• NCAA Academic Progress Rate

By incorporating team GPA and the Academic Progress Rate into the winning formula, we reinforce the idea that winning football games is only part of a successful football season. If one team wins all their games and their student-athletes do poorly in the classroom they will be penalized by this formula and will not win the trophy. This trophy is for the bragging rights in the state of Florida.
