About the Society for the Betterment of the College Athlete
My name is Timothy Amburgy. I am Founder and President of The Society for the Betterment of the College Athlete. I went to Ohio State University where I played for Woody Hayes’ freshman team as a walk-on in 1970. Over the years, I have participated in sports on many different levels as I supported and encouraged my son’s and daughter’s athletic involvement as both a coach and a father. Athletics have had a profound impact on my life and the lives of my children, and I understand the importance of building and supporting athletic programs that encourage, support and exemplify integrity, responsibility and good citizenship.
The Society for the Betterment of the College Athlete was founded to provide Division I universities with additional assistance and programs in a partnership devoted to supporting today’s college athlete. We will partner with universities to provide role models and support systems to give the student-athlete of today their best chance to get a college degree and start their adult lives as prepared as possible. In addition, we will partner with, supplement and support the National Collegiate Athletic Association member institutions CHAMPS/Life Skills student-athlete education programs. When we meet our goal of increasing the graduation rate by an additional 20% while reducing by 20% the number of student- athletes that get into trouble, The SBCA will have had a tremendously positive impact on the lives of today’s college student athlete. This is our goal and our mission.
The success of our programs depends upon your assistance. Please click here to contribute.
